Metolius River

photograph by Mike Putnam

A beautiful image from Mike Putnam’s exploration of the Oregon back country lead me to explore a combination of shapes – leaves for the colorful maples and waves (sort of!) for the rushing river.  The idea of using leaf shapes as the Xtra-Dimensional components was triggered by the thought that brilliant pictures of Fall colors are akin to digital images with leaves as pixels.  Presented in sizes from 25-1/2” x 20-1/2” up to 50” x 40-1/2”.

As installed in client’s home:

A vibrant artwork featuring the Metolius River with colorful autumn leaves on display in a cozy interior setting.

For fun, I used blue Oranjeboom cans for the water components, as revealed by the picture of the reverse side:

A colorful and textured collage made from various beverage can labels, representing a flowing river and maple leaves, showcasing an artistic exploration of nature.
